Liberty Tree University (“we,” “us”) offers online American history courses at dawnlightcourses.com. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what we need to run our courses, and we never sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Account and purchase details. When you create an account or enroll in a course, we collect your name, email address, password (stored in encrypted form), and billing address. If you start checking out but don’t finish, we may save the details you entered, such as your name and email address, so we can send you a reminder.
- Course activity. Your enrollments, the lessons you complete, your quiz answers and scores, and the certificates and achievements you earn.
- Messages. Anything you send us through our Contact page, such as your name, email address, and message.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our servers automatically record basic information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. We use it to keep the site secure and running smoothly.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and help pages load quickly. We may also use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site in general. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although parts of the site, such as logging in, may not work without them.
Payments
We do not collect or store credit card numbers on this website. If a payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, that provider handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.
How we use your information
- To give you access to your courses, track your progress, and issue your certificates and achievements.
- To send you account and purchase emails, such as receipts, password resets, and important course notices.
- To reply to your questions and messages.
- To improve our courses and website.
- To protect the site, prevent fraud, and meet our legal obligations.
We may also use your name and email address, including details you share at checkout or through our Contact page, to tell you about our courses, special offers, and updates, and to remind you if you start checking out but don’t finish. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by letting us know through our Contact page.
When we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run the site, such as our web host and email delivery services, and only as needed to provide their services to us.
- When required by law, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of our students, ourselves, or others.
- As part of a business transfer, such as a merger or sale, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
If you choose to turn on sharing for one of your certificates, anyone with the link will be able to view that certificate.
How long we keep information
We keep your account and course records for as long as your account is active, so you can return to your courses and certificates. We may keep some records longer where needed for tax, legal, or accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your choices
- You can view and update your account details at any time from the Edit Account page in your dashboard.
- You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, through our Contact page.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Children’s privacy
Our courses are designed for high school students, homeschool families, and adult learners. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent’s or guardian’s permission. Parents and teachers are welcome to set up and manage accounts for younger students. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information without permission, please let us know and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted connections and encrypted passwords. No website can guarantee complete security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Links to other websites
Our lessons sometimes link to other websites, such as archives, museums, and reading resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so please review their policies.
